![]() ![]() At least Revolution actually made some more substantial changes and wasn't Reloaded, which was a total waste. It's like Team17 is happy just churning out the same game every 18 months with slight changes. When you think about how much DOTA2 and especially TF2 make from random cosmetic upgrades and the like, and how easily Worms would fit that mould given it's history of stupid voice packs and customisations for your team, it's mad they haven't done this. Sure it'd move the game a little away from the purity of a strictly 4 vs 4, 100 HP game but it's the sort of things that big MP games need these days and you could keep a 'classic' game mode in there for purists. As it stands now, the MP isn't much different to how it was back in the 1990s when you'd have a hardcore community playing Worms online on their PCs or Dreamcast (ha!).Ī game like worms with persistent stats, weapon unlocks, customisation unlocks, XP and ranking like in COD et al (maybe even tied into individual worms) would be amazing. One thing I think needs mentioning though is how backwards the multiplayer is, years after online play has been widely adopted. It's sorta organically developing itself. They don't need Team 17 making more games, really. But as long as people have the Project X and Worms Armageddon is getting patches. They added in some popular features of the community patches and concepts from that Project X thing that allows people to hack the game more easily, basically. In case of Worms, Team17 is learning from WA. They know what people want and what's cool, they actually play the game and know exactly what's good for it.īut when you make a new commercial game with a bunch of coders and artists and such, you don't know what is cool and what might people want improved in what way, since you're doing everything from scratch and therefore you can't be familiar with it from all those years playing it like with OpenTTD or WA. It's getting it's updates that are made by the community members, or at least people who are more tied with community than with original developers of the product. It's a bit like with OpenTTD and the other games that try to be OpenTTD and fail miserably (Cities in Motion, Transport Giant, Locomotion etc.) /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
